One last thing that is worth of note about Ourstage before I quit my rant. What exactlky is the reason that 58% of their click stream traffic comes from a traffic provider? I mean, wouldn’t you think their traffic rank, the one that determines their advertiser revenue, would be based on real clicks? Alexa data shure shows that to be a fantasy. I would say it is nearly impossible for anyone that is web stats aware to reconcile the numbers presented on Alexa as anything but a complete conviction of Ourstage. take a look at where their traffic comes from and goes to on the click stream tab and notice that the average stay is less than 2 minutes. Just enough time to listen to 8 songs for 15 seconds each, 15 seconds is all the judges are required to listen to. Enjoy: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/ourstage.com#

I have to admit I am just fuming at the notion that Ourstage is fair. I have been reading a bunch of comments throughout the web and it is clear to see that there are lots of unhappy people. I suspect that if artists were allowed to truely weight in on their experience they would say that the feel manipulated. I read that ”They added the favorite artist feature” to increase user satisfaction in the judging but it would be clear to anyone that watches the results of judging that you can vote any obscure artist into the top 100 except your favorite. It is statistically proven in my experience that the process shows you the same very low rated acts over and over. You spend most of your time judging the top 50 against the bottom twenty and I understand that Ourstage would probably disagree, if so I have one word for them ”Certification”. Right here and right now I say put up or shut up. Either get a known legitimate agency to certify your results are statistically fair or shut up about being gods gift to the indie artist community.

I just spent 40 hours on Ourstage voting for music in several categories. Ourstage is a complete fabrication. There are several artist in the competition that I would have had just cause to vote for but guess what, they never show up in your choices. Ourstage has two methods of voting, head to head and 4 at a time. In over 20 hours of voting I never once saw any of the contestants I was interested in voting for. In order to vote for one of my favored ones, I finally had to declare that artist as my favorite which finally allowed me to vote for them. Guess what happens then, Your vote counts for nothing at all. In one competition I have added 50% of the contestants in the top 100 and yet could not even more my favorite to the list. All while letting you play this silly game, the folks at Ourstage feed you what they call Battles between artists for best of the pair or set of four. In the 40 hours I spent voting a full third of all contestants never appeared as a choice and contestants at the top of the list appeared in loaded battles where you had to lie to vote against them. I will be writing a full outline of my experience as a Judge but the take home message is the same as it has always been for the indie artist. Every competition exists for and of its own agenda proving once again that exploitation is the real goal of most if not all supposed competitions between artists. The only way indie artists will ever succeed is to leave all these dishonest people behind, join together and work an agenda that actually promotes inde music instaed of piting one artist against the other because when that happens, all indie artists and listeners lose.

Hi Bryan. I am still working on a plan for the best heading. This interface is a total spam nightmare. I get about 30 false sign-ups a week so I turned off registrations for now. People can still register by sending a message but there hasn’t been much interest. Several new sites have taken the [...]
