I Didn’t get my activation email, What Now?:

Activation emails should be received within minutes of completing the sign up process. If you are waiting for your activation email, please use the contact form and message me. I will need your email address and user name to verify your account then I can send you the activation code manually.

Avatar:

What size does my avatar need to be:

The system is set up to use uploaded images and allows you to crop the file after upload. You can use any image you want as your avatar and no resizing is required before uploading.

Note: uploading can be very slow on some internet connections so cropping your image ahead of time to reduce the file size will save time on the upload time itself.

Linking Problems

I Can’t get a link to work in my custom  profile fields

This is caused by a bug in the WPMU or Buddypress code (still uncertain).

The simple work around is to make sure to enter the full URL IE:  http://www.domain.end/yourlink

It may appear as if you have done this but this problem shows up when you start with www… the system will fill in the http:// for you but then the link does not work, even though it looks perfect.

Registration:

My account is missing

This is probably because you account has been placed in quarantine. I do this because accounts that appear and then are unused are typically spam-bot generated and there are ways people can exploit the site using technology. Please contact me if your user account is disabled or if you have any other problems or questions.

Viewing The Site

I Can’t even get to this site from my computer

If you can’t get to the site from your computer and/or you recieve a 403 error but your friends can come and go with ease, this may have been caused by the blocking your IP address. I do this when spam bots originate from an address range and I feel reasonably certain that all addresses in the range are accessible to the spammers. If your IP has been blocked and you feel it was in error, the only resolution is to use the contact form from a different computer in a different location and request that your IP be unblocked.  I regret having to take these actions but it is necessary to preserve the usefulness of the site.
